§ 21-4. School zones.

  • The city commission shall determine, upon the basis of a traffic investigation, the portions of the streets of the city which should be included within school zones in order to protect children approaching or leaving both public and private schools located within the city, and the police department shall place at the outside limits of such school zones, during the hours such portions of such streets are likely to be used by school children, appropriate signs giving notice of such school zones, and of the speed limit permitted therein.
