§ 2-20. Vacancies in candidacy; filling of vacancies.

(a)

A vacancy in candidacy will exist upon the death, withdrawal or removal from the ballot of a qualified candidate following the end of the qualifying period which leaves fewer than two (2) candidates for an office, provided that such vacancy is declared by the city commission no later than 12:00 noon on the third Tuesday prior to the election.

(b)

If the city commission declares a vacancy in candidacy, filing for the office in question will reopen immediately and will remain open until 12:00 noon on the second Tuesday prior to the election.
